Youth Empowerment

By providing opportunities and programs to grow and expand, we empower our youth to reach their full potential.

Above the Influence Retreat — MCYC holds an annual ATI retreat with other coalitions in Chittenden County. This two day retreat is free to attend and includes middle and high school students that are interested in working with their peers across the county on substance abuse prevention.

Milton Mentors matches children in grades 3-8 with adults in the community who share common interests. Matched pairs meet once a week for an hour and spend time exploring the community while building a friendship and strengthening developmental assets. The MCYC provides bi-monthly events to help mentors provide meaningful opportunities to explore with their mentees.

The Buddy Program is a peer-to-peer mentoring program that matches high school Juniors and Seniors with mentees in grades 3-5. We meet once a week for a supervised hour of reading, games, and fun in the Milton Elementary School Library.

Our mentoring programs aim to increase young people’s connection to the community, create solid relationships with positive adult role models, and ultimately help young people become successful, healthy adults.

We also work with the Milton High School Interact Club, a youth group of the Rotary Club, to help plan group events and learn about opportunities for teens in Milton.
